Unlimited: The Music and Lyrics of Steven Schwartz
Assistant Lighting Designer
The Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance
Unlimited: The Music and Lyrics… was produced in February 2021 at the Donald C. Bedell Performace Hall, a 950-seat proscenium theater located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Unlimited: The Music and Lyrics… was a mainstage, world premiere musical written by Steven Schwartz. As assistant designer, I shadowed and worked alongside lead designer, Christopher George Haug. My responsibilities included attending all technical rehearsals and production meetings, serving as a production electrician, creating lighting paperwork, conducting research, and collaborating on design elements. I kept organized production paperwork and created storyboard mapping of the design.
The production was programmed on an ETC Ion console and utilized moving head fixtures such as ETC Coloursource PARs, MAC 500s, and Chauvet Rogue 2 Washs, as well as dry ice fog machines and a star drop. We utilized pixel mapping to control the string lights embedded in the portals and the LED strips on the hanging scenic details. Throughout the process, I gained experience with soldering, show networking, and pixel mapping.
