Fall for Dance
Associate Lighting Designer
The Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance
Fall for Dance was produced in November 2023 at the Donald C. Bedell Performace Hall, a 950-seat proscenium theater located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Fall for Dance was a mainstage dance concert comprised of eight choreographed pieces of various dance styles. As an associate designer, I worked alongside five of my peers and our faculty mentor, each of us designing one piece. I received the honor of designing the guest artist piece, “Fever Dream”. “Fever Dream” was a 15-minute long piece split into three sections, taking the audience through an altered state of reality, a liminal space, that expands throughout the duration of the piece. I utilized heavy isolation and side lighting along with vibration cool tones to transform the space into an eerie and ethereal dreamlike state.
I programmed the show on an ETC Ion Xe console and worked with Lightwright 6 and Vectorworks 2024 to create lighting-based paperwork and plots. I utilized LEDs and moving head fixtures such as ETC Coloursource PARs, MAC 500s, MAC 550s, Chauvet Rogue 2 Washs, and MAC III Washs to execute my design.
